Sunday I wanted to give The Mom a break and to check out the RT rail system. It was going to be an easy journey; take the train downtown, run around the Capitol and catch the train home.... no big deal. Guess what RT does on the weekend, track maintenance. And that threw a wrench into our game plan be/c we ended up having to get off the train and bridge shuttle on the bus to another stop before boarding another train. And do you think RT cared that I had two kids to handle, NOPE, they were maintaining efficency by filling the bus at every stop. Oh well, we did ok. Made it to the Capitol!
We had some snacks before heading out to play. Thank you for Cheerios and Graham Cracker Teddy Bears. Was even smart enough to throw two "juice with a straws" (CapriSuns) into the backpack so we recovered from our journey.
The trip home; I will cut to the short version; we called Mom and she drove downtown to pick us up. I felt bad be/c I wanted her to have some time to her self but the bus bridge was not any fun and the kiddies were running out of gas, and let me just paint a picture of cranky... it's not pretty. HUGE THANKS to The Mom!
* Let me say that I pride myself in knowing the difference between Capitol and Capital. I used it correctly here. Capitol refers to the building and the grounds that it sits on. Captial refers to money and the City where the Capitol building is located. Remember this, most Capitols have a rotunda, ie, they are round on top, like the O in Capitol. Anything other than the building or immediate grounds is with an A... as in Capital. So there.
Dad.... he was an easy story, just snap a few different blades onto the clippers and presto... another $20 saved via back yard hair cuts. I couldn't even tell you what a hair cut costs these days. So if you want to save a little money, come give the Mom a try.

FYI to the day. We used to live in New Orleans and on Sunday my father would take my brother and I across the river into the French Quarter to the Cafe Du Monde for beignets and milk. A short walk to Jackson Square where he would just sit and let us chase the pigeons. Our mom got the morning off to relax and do whatever. Then it was a quick ferry ride home and I am certain, haircuts in the carport! And the cycle continues.
