April 19th represented Canoodle's one year anniversary for being a US citizen. There is a gray period of adoption while running around China. You spend 5 days doing the Chinese paperwork and then another 5 days doing the US paperwork and then you go to the US Embassy and take an oath and your done.... sort of.
They give you a package to take back with you on the plane that is sealed and CANNOT BE OPENED. Once you get to immigration, in our case San Francisco, they open the package. You want to hear the next three sounds... STAMP, STAMP, STAMP. One for the passport, one for the visa and one for her paperwork. Then the nice gentleman looked up and said,
"Welcome to America"
Its the thrice pound that makes her a US Citizen. George W sent us a nice letter with a Certificate of Citizenship. Anyway, just another reason to have cake, and boy howdy, do we like cake in this house.
It rained all night on Saturday and cleared up somewhat on Sunday. We put on our muddy clothes and boots and went down to the river and stomped in the water . We had taken some cheerios for the ducks in case we found any. The ducks got about 30 cheerios and Noodle and CaNoodle get the rest. We managed to soak up the majority of the river and bring it home in our boots. A hot bath including hair washing and some hot chocolate to celebrate our good day. Note: running to the river, a bath and hot chocolate all lead to a 3 hour nap by both of them at the same time.
I am working on building a computer from scratch. I was able to inspect my case, install the motherboard and hook up most of the associated wires before they woke up. More on the computer build out as it comes along.
Last but not least... Noodle got a hair cut. Very darn cute that girl (Gurl as she pronouces it.) CaNoodle was unimpressed by the whole blond hair thing on the floor but Noodle didn't blink an eye. She does pretty well with doctors and such. Friday she had her 36 month check up. A clean bill of health. 31.2 lbs, 37 inches puts her in the 75 percentile for weight and 95 percentile for height. She has all the right teeth, still has 10 fingers and 10 toes and told the doctor that we cleaned the peas and carrots out of her ears just that morning. We now have to put the Q-Tips up high now because cleaning our ears is so much fun.
Stay tuned for more exciting news as our life goes on.
